Box Score Lake Nona, Fla. - The No. 23 Denison women's tennis team traveled down to the USTA National Campus for their spring break trip. The Big Red kicked off action in the Sunshine State, facing off against No. 35 Wellesley College. Denison was able to claim a 1-0 lead after winning two of three doubles matches. The Big Red fell in all singles matches

In doubles play, Denison earned their first point, collecting two of three victories. The pairs of Peyton Oda and Maia Nowicki, alongside Caroline Lopez and Charlotte Johns, won their matches. Caroline Kittle and Dasha Chistyakova battled in the final doubles match but came up short, falling in a 6-1 decision. The pair of wins put the Big Red up 1-0 going into singles play.

The Big Red fought hard in singles, however, Wellesley was able to sweep all six matches. Charlotte Johns, Caroline Kittle, and Caroline Lopez took their opponents to three sets, ultimately falling in the final set. 

Up next: Denison will continue their week at the USTA National Campus with two matches tomorrow. At noon, the Big Red will take on Indiana University-Kokomo. Denison will square off against UW-Eau Claire at 6 p.m.
