HIRAM, Ohio (Feb. 15) – Denison men's basketball extended its winning ways on Saturday afternoon, defeating Hiram 77-64 at Price Gymnasium. The Big Red improved to 21-2 overall and 13-1 in NCAC play with two regular-season games remaining.
Denison held a 39-32 lead at halftime and maintained control throughout the second half, outscoring the Terriers 38-32 in the final 20 minutes. The Big Red used a combination of inside scoring and defensive pressure to keep Hiram at bay, leading by as many as 15 points.
Trevor Reed paced Denison with a game-high 21 points and seven rebounds, while Cameron Smith, Darren Rubin, and Kellon Smith each added 11 points. Aidan King provided a spark off the bench with seven points and a team-high nine rebounds. The Big Red's depth also played a factor, as Denison outscored Hiram 17-6 in bench points.
Denison's defense made a difference down the stretch, forcing 16 Hiram turnovers and turning them into 14 points. The Big Red also dominated second-chance opportunities, scoring 16 points off offensive rebounds.
Denison returns home for its final regular-season home game on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. against The College of Wooster before finishing the regular season on the road at Ohio Wesleyan University.
