Pittsburgh, Pa. (Feb. 1) – The No. 24 Denison women's squash secured a hard-fought 6-3 victory over No. 23 Chatham University on the road, using four match wins and a pair of forfeits to clinch the team victory.
Charlotte Jones, delivered a dominant performance at the No. 1 spot, sweeping her opponent 3-0 (11-9, 11-4, 11-5) to set the tone for the Big Red. Esme Adelman followed suit at No. 5 with a commanding 3-0 victory (11-8, 11-5, 11-3), while Tess Lanza put together a strong showing at No. 6, securing another straight-set win (12-10, 11-6, 11-5). Kate Manderlink capped off Denison's individual victories at No. 7, overpowering her opponent in a decisive 3-0 match (11-1, 11-4, 11-1).
With two forfeits in the No. 8 and No. 9 positions, Denison reached the six-win mark to take the overall match, overcoming Chatham's strong performances at the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 spots.
The Big Red now shift their focus to the Liberty League Championship next weekend, where they remain in strong contention for the title. They will travel to Canton, N.Y., to compete at St. Lawrence University.
