Denison Dominates Kenyon in 70-44 Victory

Granville, Ohio- The Denison University women's basketball team cruised to a 70-44 victory over Kenyon College on Senior Day inside Livingston Gymnasium. The Big Red improved to 12-7 overall and 5-3 in North Coast Athletic Conference play, while the Owls dropped to 2-16 overall and 0-8 in conference.

The Big Red were down just once at the start of the matchup and would string together a 10-2 run to kick off the first five minutes of play. By the half, Denison extended its lead to 20, heading into the locker room with a commanding 41-21 lead. In the second half, however, the Owls opened up the third quarter with an 8-0 run and held the Big Red to 16 points in the third and 13 in the fourth quarter.

Pacing Denison to victory was senior guard Maddie Goodman, who finished the night with 15 points, three rebounds, and three assists. Also tallying double-digits against the Owls was senior forward Abigail Westmeyer. Westmeyer put up 13 points, grabbed six rebounds, and led the team in steals with four. Fellow senior Molly Fisher dished out four of the 16 assists for the night, while Maeve Perry pulled down seven of the Big Red's 38 rebounds.

For Kenyon, Alyssa Horsley created problems for Denison throughout the game, scoring 17 points, collecting nine rebounds, and recording two assists and steals for the day. Just behind Horsley was Eva Winston, who put up 10 points and three rebounds.

Complimenting Denison's offensive success was its solid full-court defense throughout the matchup. The Big Red forced 18 turnovers, which translated to 17 points the other way, and forced the Owls to shoot 1-for-15 from behind the arc.
