Greencastle, Ind.- The undefeated Big Red women's basketball team earned its first conference victory with a thrilling 59-52 win over the DePauw Tigers. This marks the teams second victory over the past four years. Denison moves to 8-0 on the season and 1-0 in the conference.
First Quarter: Denison struggled to get a solid footing early as DePauw was able to control the lead in the opening quarter. A trio of shots from beyond the arc, courtesy of Abby Cooch, Adelyn Moore, and Molly Dorighi, kept the Big Red within striking distance heading into the second quarter. The Tigers led 15-10 after 10 minutes of play.
Second Quarter: DePauw hit the ground running in the second quarter, leading Denison by as much as 11. Senior guard Jess Zittel buried a three alongside buckets from Cooch and Ada Taute to cut the DePauw lead back to single-digits. The Big Red were behind 27-19 at halftime.
Third Quarter: The Big Red came out of half on fire and cut the Tiger lead down to two heading into the fourth quarter. Cooch and Moore drained a pair of threes to close the quarter.
Fourth Quarter: Denison was able to claim the lead courtesy of a three from Taute. Cooch would go on to rattle off five straight points to take a commanding lead.
