Oberlin, Ohio — No. 17 Denison men's soccer put together a dominant performance on Saturday, rolling to a 6-1 road victory over Oberlin at Shults Field. With the win, the Big Red improve to 11-1-2 overall and 3-1-1 in NCAC play.
Denison struck first as Justin Crow capitalized on a rebound after the Oberlin goalkeeper deflected Phil Koutsaftis' initial shot. The Big Red continued to control the pace in the opening half, adding a second score when Eli Taylor intercepted an attempted clearance at the top of the box and finished it. Kameron Kist closed out the half with a goal of his own off a short feed from Jack Rice.
Koutsaftis extended the lead in the 55th minute, beating two defenders before slotting the ball past the keeper. Oberlin put one on the board in the 75th minute, but Denison finished strong with late goals from Tommy Hoskins and Will Hunter just two minutes apart to round out the scoring.
Denison finished with a 23-7 edge in shots and 10 shots on goal. Goalkeeper Alex Provost combined for three saves, while Oberlin's goalkeepers made 10 stops under consistent pressure.
Denison returns home on Wednesday, October 29, to face Wabash in a 3:00 p.m.
