Granville, Ohio (Jan. 5) – The Denison University men's swimming & diving team marked Senior Day with a dominant performance, honoring the contributions of the Class of 2025 while excelling in the pool. The Big Red recognized 11 seniors: Connor Brown, Shea Card, Lucas Conrads, Patrick Daly, Tyler Distenfeld, Gavin Jones, Blake McDonald, Christian McIntire, Christian Narcelles, Max Soja, and Elijah Venos.
The meet began with a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay as the Denison A team of Jack Hill, Daly, Narcelles, and Nick Hensel posted a winning time of 1:28.64.
In the 500-yard freestyle, George Goins secured a victory with a time of 4:35.21, followed by Max Hutson-Comeaux in second (4:41.81). The Big Red swept the podium in the 200-yard freestyle with Jones taking first (1:40.46), Distenfeld finishing second (1:43.13), and George Wang in third (1:44.06). Brown placed just outside the top three in fourth (1:45.23).
Luke Swiggett captured first place in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 23.57, while Card finished third (24.50). Another sweep followed in the 50-yard breaststroke, with Hensel touching first (25.75), Josh Thomas taking second (26.02), and Teak Rommaneekochchakorn in third (26.20). McDonald finished just behind in fourth (27.07).
In the 200-yard butterfly, Soja claimed first place (1:50.03), Narcelles finished second (1:51.41), and Dylan Escano rounded out the top three (1:54.02). The Big Red shined again in the 200-yard backstroke, with Hill taking first (1:48.52), Conrads second (1:53.96), Narcelles third (1:56.28), and Brown fourth (1:58.08).
McIntire secured first place in the 300-yard freestyle, showcasing Denison's depth across events. In the 50-yard butterfly, Emmett Harmon led the field with a winning time of 22.97, followed by Benjamin Coverdale in second (23.10) and Theo Wolf in third (23.24).
In diving, the Big Red dominated the three-meter board. Nick Fogle claimed first with 523.20 points, Brendan Stanley took second (453.75), and Brock Butchko earned third (376.35).
The meet concluded with a win in the 100-yard freestyle relay, where the Denison B team of Daly, Harry Parsons, Andre Beduschi, and Coverdale clocked a first-place time of 36.93.
Denison University and Denison Swimming & Diving congratulate the Class of 2025 on their exceptional careers and lasting impact on the program. The Big Red now shift their focus to postseason competition as they prepare to host the NCAC Conference Championships from February 12-15.
