GRANVILLE, Ohio (Jan. 11) — A fast start and a deep rotation fueled the Denison Big Red in a dominant 75-53 win over the Wooster Fighting Scots inside Livingston Gymnasium.
An aggressive first quarter set the tone, with Denison outscoring Wooster 26-9. The Big Red's relentless defense led to 22 steals, converting into 31 points off turnovers. They also controlled the paint, scoring 44 points inside.
Seventeen players saw action for Denison, with contributions across the roster. Violet Mitchell led the Big Red in scoring with 13 points, followed closely by Maddie Goodman with 12. Abby Cooch, Abigail Westmeyer, and Jess Zittel each chipped in 8 points, with Zittel hitting two of her three attempts from beyond the arc. Molly Fisher also provided a spark, sinking two three-pointers, while Maeve Perry made her presence felt in the paint with six points and four rebounds. Defensively, Elliana Baker
added two big blocks.
For Wooster, Mackenzie Riccitelli and Tatiyana Sturdivant each scored 16 points. Riccitelli was especially effective from deep, shooting 4-for-5 beyond the arc.
With this win, Denison improves to 9-5 overall and 2-1 in NCAC play. They now prepare to head north to Oberlin College for a 6:00 p.m. matchup on Wednesday, Jan. 15.
