GRANVILLE, Ohio (Sept. 11) – The Denison University men's tennis team opened the 2024-25 season with the Denison Invitational hosted on Sept. 7-8.
The field included seven strong teams from across the country. Competing at the event were Denison, Carnegie Mellon, Case Western Reserve, Kenyon, Northwestern Ohio, University of Chicago and Washington & Lee.
Denison combined to put together an overall record of 34-23 in singles play and 14-9 in doubles action.
Leading the way in singles action was
Kael Shah, who put together a perfect 4-0 record. Five members of the Big Red recorded three wins at the event. That included a 3-1 mark by
Ethan Green,
Andreas Chapides,
Nick Meyers and
Nickawn Namdar.
Two doubles pairings put together unbeaten marks of 3-0. Those groupings were
Andreas Chapides and
Nick Meyers as well as
Mason Conlin and
Aayush Kishore.
Chika Nwazouzou and
Anthony Payiavlas finished with a 2-0 mark in doubles.
Shah and
Ethan Green amassed a 2-1 record in doubles play.
The Big Red returns to action with the ITA Central Regional Championships (Sept. 20-22) and the Kenyon Invitational (Sept. 21-22).
