TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (Nov. 3) – First-year
Jane McNamara earned Newcomer of the Year to highlight Denison University's efforts at the 2024 North Coast Athletic Conference Championships.
The annual 6K event was held at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course in Terre Haute, Indiana. Denison finished fifth in the team standings.
McNamara and
Fiona Martinelli secured spots on the All-NCAC Third Team.
Martinelli, a sophomore, placed 15th overall with a time of 23:38.42. Martinelli improved 20 spots from her 35th place positioning last year as a first year.
McNamara earned the top time among all newcomers by finishing in 18th place. McNamara timed in at 23:45.30.
First-year
Floralysse Biteau finished in 32nd place with a time of 24:39.76. Sophomore
Lexi Verdell was next for the Big Red, timing in at 25:28.96 for a 45th place finish.
Evie Sparks and
Lulu Visocky-O'Grady were the next two finishers for Denison. Sparks had a time of 26:22.77 while Visocky-O'Grady recorded a time of 27:00.10.
Rounding out the top seven Denison runners were
Aly Marshall and
Ren Perretta. Marshall timed in at 27:28.96. Perretta timed in at 27:56.25.
Denison returns to competition when they head to the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Nov. 16. The meet will be hosted by Franklin College at Shelbyville, Indiana at Blue River Park.
