Parini announced as member of 2025 CSCAA Division III Hall of Fame Class

GRANVILLE, Ohio (Nov. 20) -- The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America announced longtime Denison University head coach Gregg Parini as an inductee to the CSCAA Division III Hall of Fame Class of 2025, recognizing the exceptional achievements and contributions of NCAA Division III swimmers, divers, and coaches.

"I'm honored to be included alongside some of the all-time greats in D3 swimming - including my teammates and friends Tim Bridgham and Tim Glasser," Parini said. "Anything I accomplished in the pool was the result of their good example and inspiration. I'm grateful to be included with them."

Parini gained induction into the Hall of Fame for his work as a collegiate swimmer at Kenyon College. A member of Kenyon College's first three National Championship teams, Gregg Parini was an 18-time Individual and Relay All-American, and became the College's first National Sprint Champion with back-to-back titles in the 50 Freestyle (1980 & '81) and a 100 Freestyle title in 1981. Parini was also a part of 4 relay teams that won Championship Titles, giving him a career total of 7 National Titles. All told, he was part of 5 NCAA Division III Championship Records, 2 individual and 3 relay, including the distinction of being the first Division III swimmer to swim the 50 Freestyle in under 21 seconds.

Currently in his 38th season leading the Denison swimming & diving programs as a coach, Parini has built the Big Red into one of the most successful programs in the history of Division III athletics, highlighted by seven NCAA Division III national championships, 17 national runner-up finishes and a streak of 70 consecutive top-10 national finishes across both genders.

Parini guided the Denison women to their first NCAA title in 2001. The Big Red reached the mountaintop again as the NCAA's best in 2023. The Denison men's team has claimed five NCAA titles with the most recent coming in 2019. The Big Red also captured NCAA championships in 2011, 2012, 2016 and 2018.

In December of 2021, Parini was selected by the CSCAA for its list of 100 greatest collegiate coaches as a part of the CSCAA's Centennial Celebration.

Samantha Barany, Executive Director of the CSCAA, highlighted the importance of this honor: "Congratulations to the Division III Hall of Fame Class of 2025! This Hall of Fame celebrates the extraordinary careers of swimmers, divers, and coaches who have left a lasting legacy in Division III collegiate swimming and diving. These inductees are being celebrated not only for their athletic excellence but also for their enduring contributions to the sport, their teams, and their institutions.

This marks the second-straight year that a Denison affiliated individual will enter the CSCAA Division III Hall of Fame. Al Weik, class of 2014, earned a spot in the inaugural D-III class in 2024.

The induction ceremony will take place on May 5, 2025, at the CSCAA Annual Awards Celebration at the Raleigh Marriott Crabtree Valley in Raleigh, North Carolina.

This year's Hall of Fame class includes twenty distinguished individuals whose remarkable achievements and lasting impact have shaped the landscape of collegiate swimming and diving.
