MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (Nov. 19) -- For the second time this fall, Denison University senior defensive back
Collin Murphy secured his spot on D3football.com Team of the Week.
Murphy filled the stat sheet in Denison's season-ending win at Ohio Wesleyan. Murphy intercepted a Battling Bishops' pass in the fourth quarter pass to help preserve the Denison lead in the 28-14 victory. He tallied six tackles (one for loss), forced a fumble and added a pass breakup for the Big Red defense.
Murphy was previously honored by the organization for his efforts in a win over Hiram on Sept. 28. Murphy finishes the 2024 season with 45 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, eight pass breakups and a team-high four interceptions. He also chipped in a forced fumble and a blocked kick to his stat totals.
He becomes just the fifth Denison football player to earn Team of the Week honors twice. He joins running back Sam Fioroni (2010 - Week 3 and 2011 - Week 3), wide receiver DuShawn Brown (2014-Week 8 and Week 10), safety Ryan Hallinan (2018 - Week 8, 2021 - Week 2) and most recently tight end Mack Marston (2022 - Week 1 and Week 4) to receive multiple honors from D3football.com.
Denison finished the season with a 6-4 overall record. The Big Red were 6-2 in North Coast Athletic Conference play. Three of their four losses in 2024 came at the hands of ranked opponents.
