GREENSBORO, N.C. (March 15, 2023) – The 2023 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships are underway, and the Denison University men are in ninth place through four of 20 events. Denison totaled 37 points on day one and is tied with New York University while trailing Bates College in eighth place with 45 points.
Lucas Conrads qualified for the B Final in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:28.89, which was good for 13th place. Then in the finals, Conrads moved up to 12th place with a time of 4:28.03.

In the 200 IM, Denison put one swimmer into the A Final and one into the B Final as
Patrick Daly (1:48.07) finished sixth in the prelims while
Richie Kurlich (1:49.16) was 12th. Daly (1:48.12) and Kurlich (1:49.29) then held steady in sixth and 12th place, respectively, in the finals.
Denison did not have any athletes participate in the 50 freestyle, and then in the 200 medley relay, Denison's group of
Aidan Lane,
Elijah Venos,
Josh Song and Kurlich finished 13th with a time of 1:29.99 in the prelims.
In the finals of the 200 medley relay,
Shea Card replace Lane to start off the race and helped the Big Red move up to finish second in the B final and 10th overall at 1:29.13.
Emory University went on to win the 200 medley relay with a new NCAA record time of 1:25.85 to extend its lead to 110.5-80.5 over Kenyon College in the team standings.
Denison will return to the Greensboro Aquatic Center on Thursday, March 16, for day two of the NCAA Division III Championships, where they will compete in the 200 free relay, 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, one-meter dive and the 400 medley relay. Preliminaries begin at 10 a.m. followed by finals at 6 p.m.
