Women's Squash

No. 24 Denison rounds out CSA Team Nationals with loss to No. 23 Dickinson

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (February 19, 2023) – The eighth-seeded and No. 24-ranked Denison University women's squash team fell 6-3 to seventh-seeded and No. 23-ranked Dickinson College during day three of the College Squash Association National Collegiate Women's Team Championship.

The match was tied at 2-2 early on as Denison earned a pair of four-set comeback wins by Kate Manderlink (No. 7 seed) and Natalie Stanchina (No. 9 seed).

However, Antoinette Ramsey came up short in five sets (10-12, 11-3, 11-6, 11-13, 11-6) at the No. 2 seed while the Big Red were swept at the No. 3, No. 4, No. 5, No. 6 and No. 8 seeds.

During Denison's three matches throughout the weekend in the Walker Cup division, Maria Clara Ramirez finished 3-0 at the No. 1 seed.

The Big Red finished their 2022-23 schedule with a 9-8 overall record and had six victories in which they did not surrender a point to the opposition. Ramirez played every match at the top of the ladder and posted a 14-3 overall record while Stanchina solidified the bottom of the ladder and ranked second on the team with 11 wins (11-7). In addition, Manderlink (10-5) and Hannah Best (9-8) each had productive seasons in the seventh and eighth positions, respectively, while Ramsey finished with a 9-8 record at the No. 2 seed.
 
In the other final matches at the Walker Cup, top-seeded and No. 17-ranked Middlebury College defeated second-seeded and No. 18-ranked Georgetown University 6-3 in the championship match, sixth-seeded and No. 22-ranked Chatham University defeated fifth-seeded and No. 21-ranked Wesleyan University 5-4 in the third-place match, and third-seeded and No. 19-ranked Franklin and Marshall College defeated fourth-seeded and No. 20-ranked Colby College 5-4 in the fifth-place match.

Next up, the College Squash Association Individual Championships are scheduled for March 3-5 at the University of Pennsylvania.
