PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (February 18, 2023) – The eighth-seeded and No. 24-ranked Denison University women's squash team competed in the semifinals of the consolation bracket of the Walker Cup division at the College Squash Association National Collegiate Women's Team Championship on Saturday at the University of Pennsylvania. In the end, the Big Red ended with a 7-2 loss against fourth-seeded and No. 20-ranked Colby College, and will now play in the seventh-place match on Sunday.
Maria Clara Ramirez earned a 3-0 (11-7, 11-9, 11-2) win at the No. 1 seed and
Antoinette Ramsey won 3-1 (12-10, 11-7, 9-11, 11-4) at the No. 2 seed.
At the No. 6 and No. 9 seeds,
Charlotte Sigg (11-9, 11-7, 8-11, 11-8) and
Natalie Stanchina (11-3, 11-9, 9-11, 11-1) both won a game to force a fourth set.
At the No. 7 seed,
Kate Manderlink dropped each of her three sets by only two points each, falling 3-0 (11-9, 14-12, 12-10).
Denison will return to action on Sunday, February 19, for the final day of CSA Nationals. At 9:30 a.m. at Drexel University, Denison will battle seventh-seeded and No. 23-ranked Dickinson College in the seventh-place match of the Walker Cup division. The Big Red defeated the Red Devils 9-0 earlier this season (Dec. 3).
