LANCASTER, Pa. (December 3, 2023) – The No. 28-ranked Denison University women's squash team fell in three matches this weekend in Pennsylvania. The Big Red began the action on Friday at No. 20 Dickinson College (Carlisle, Pa.) and were swept 8-0 before falling 6-1 in neutral-court action against No. 23 Wesleyan University on Saturday. Then on Sunday, Denison dropped a 9-0 decision against the hosts from No. 25 Franklin and Marshall College.
Match 1 (Denison 0, Dickinson 8):
- Antoinette Ramsey won 15 points at the No. 1 seed, falling 11-3, 11-7, 11-5 to Amna Fayyaz.
- Winning 12 points in the respective matches were Esme Adelman at the No. 2 seed and Charlotte Sigg at the No. 5 seed.
- Denison, which defeated Dickinson 9-0 during the regular season last year before falling 6-3 at the College Squash Association National Collegiate Women's Team Championship, falls to 3-2 on the season while Dickinson improves to 3-2.
Match 2 (Denison 1, Wesleyan 6):
- Ramsey earned Denison's lone win of the weekend with a 3-0 (11-7, 11-6, 11-8) victory over Aanya Anand at the No. 1 seed. It was Ramsey's second win in as many seasons against the Cardinals.
- Kate Manderlink forced four sets at the No. 3 seed, winning the third set before falling 3-1 (11-4, 11-3, 5-11, 11-3.
- Hannah Best battled to a close 12-10 decision in the third set at the No. 6 seed.
- Denison falls to 3-3 while Wesleyan, which lost 5-4 to No. 25 Franklin and Marshall earlier in the day, improves to 3-3.
Match 3 (Denison 0, Franklin and Marshall 9):
- Denison's closest match was by Manderlink with an 11-5, 11-5, 11-8 loss at the No. 3 seed.
- Adelman won 12 points at the No. 2 seed, Virginia Lawrence won 11 points at the No. 4 seed and Best won 10 points at the No. 6 seed.
- Denison falls to below .500 (3-4) heading into the Spring semester while Franklin and Marshall improves to 3-4.
