GRANVILLE, Ohio (November 4, 2023) – For the first time in its four years as a varsity sport, the Denison University women's squash team played at home in its season opener, welcoming Chatham University into the Mitchell Center. In the end, however, the No. 28 ranked Big Red fell 9-0 to No. 20 Chatham on Saturday.
Denison's lone set win of the day came at the No. 7 seed from as sophomore
Hannah Best won her second set 11-6 and fell by just two points (11-9) in the fourth.
The top of Denison's lineup featured junior
Antoinette Ramsey in the No. 1 spot and freshman
Esme Adelman in the second position. Adelman battled hard, falling by just two points (11-9) in her first set before dropping the next two sets by scores of 11-7 and 11-5.
In the No. 3 spot, sophomore
Lane Harding also battled to an 11-9 decision in the first set before scoring seven points throughout her final two sets.
The Big Red will be back in action next weekend when they head to the United States Naval Academy. Denison will take on Boston University at 12 p.m. and Fordham University at 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, followed by a match at 9 a.m. on Sunday, November 12, against Bucknell University.
