GRANVILLE, Ohio (January 21, 2023) – The No. 23 Denison University women's squash team played at home for the first time in official varsity competition, hosting Carnegie Mellon University on Saturday afternoon at the Mitchell Fieldhouse squash courts. In the end, the Big Red earned a 5-4 Senior Day victory over the Tartans.

Playing against a lineup featuring six men's players, Denison earned the win at the top spot in the lineup and at each of the bottom four seeds, all by 3-0 fashion.

Maria Clara Ramirez won 11-8, 11-5, 11-7 over Nathan James at the No. 1 seed.

Charlotte Sigg won 11-6, 11-5, 11-2 at the No. 6 seed, Kate Manderlink won 11-4, 11-2, 11-4 at the No. 7 seed, Hannah Best was dominant in an 11-3, 11-1, 11-3 at the No. 8 seed, and Natalie Stanchina won 11-1, 11-5, 11-1 in the No. 9 spot during her Senior Day.

Senior Day:

• It was Senior Day for Lindsey Cruikshank, Frances deTuro, Ava Goodwin, Jaz'mene Little, Coco Ogden and Natalie Stanchina.
• Lindsey Cruikshank is from Bronxville, New York, is a three-year team captain for the Big Red, and was a member of the inaugural Denison varsity women's squash team in 2020-21. In the first full varsity season for the Big Red in 2021-22, she played in four matches and earned a 3-0 win at the No. 3 seed in the season opener against Chatham. This season, Cruikshank has played in all 10 matches and has earned five victories.
• Frances deTuro is from Princeton, New Jersey, and was a member of the inaugural Denison varsity women's squash team in 2020-21. She played in three matches in the first full varsity season for the Big Red in 2021-22.
• Ava Goodwin is from Quogue, New York, and was a member of the inaugural Denison varsity women's squash team in 2020-21.
• Jaz'mene Little is from Detroit, Michigan, and was a member of the inaugural Denison varsity women's squash team in 2020-21. In the first full varsity season for the Big Red in 2021-22, she played in all seven matches and earned a 3-0 win at the No. 4 seed in the season opener against Chatham.
• Coco Ogden is from New York, New York, and was a member of the inaugural Denison varsity women's squash team in 2020-21. She has played in all 10 matches so far this season with six victories.
• Natalie Stanchina is from Barrington, Rhode Island. She played in six matches in the first full varsity season for the Big Red in 2021-22 and earned a 3-0 win at the No. 8 seed against William Smith during the first day of the season. She has played in all 10 matches so far this season with eight victories.

Denison concludes its 2022-23 regular season with a strong record of 7-3, and finds itself as winners of five of the last six matches. With the postseason up next, the Big Red will prep for the start of the Liberty League Championship, scheduled for February 4-5 at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York. The Liberty League features five teams on the women's side, including Denison, Bard, St. Lawrence, Vassar and William Smith.
