MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (January 13, 2023) – The No. 28 Denison University women's squash team started off its Spring 2023 semester with a pair of wins over No. 32 Mount Holyoke College (9-0) and No. 30 Connecticut College (8-1) on Friday during day one of the Wesleyan Round Robin hosted at the Rosenbaum Squash Center.

Denison (5-2 overall) earned a 3-0 win in all but the top seed against Mount Holyoke (3-3) while Lane Harding (No. 3 seed), Lindsey Cruikshank (No. 4 seed), Charlotte Sigg (No. 7 seed), Hannah Best (No. 8 seed) and Natalie Stanchina (No. 9 seed) all kept their opponents under 10 points for the match. In addition, at the No. 1 seed, Maria Clara Ramirez earned a close win in the fourth set (11-5, 11-8, 7-11, 12-10) to improve to 5-1 on the year.

Then playing against Head Coach Michael MacDonald's previous school, Connecticut College (1-7), the Big Red swept each of the top-seven spots in the lineup and earned a 3-2 (9-11, 4-11, 11-4, 11-5, 11-5) comeback win from Stanchina in the No. 9 spot. Both Harding (No. 3 seed) and Coco Ogden (No. 5 seed) had to grind out a 12-10 win in their final set while Antoinette Ramsey (No. 2 seed) earned a 14-12 win during her second set.

Next up, the Big Red will look to wrap up the Wesleyan Round Robin on a high note as they battle No. 21 Brown University at 11:30 a.m., followed by the hosts and No. 27-ranked Wesleyan University at 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 14.
