GRANVILLE, Ohio (April 26, 2022) – The Denison University men's lacrosse team defeated Hiram College 27-1 on Tuesday night inside Deeds Field-Piper Stadium to finish a perfect 8-0 when playing at home during the 2022 regular season.
Overall, it was the 25th consecutive home win for Denison (12-4 overall, 8-0 North Coast Athletic Conference) dating back to March 30, 2019.
Additionally with the win, the Big Red have now clinched at least a share of the NCAC regular-season championship, and are locked into the No. 1 seed for the NCAC Tournament after owning the tiebreaker over both Kenyon College and Ohio Wesleyan University.
For Denison, it was their third game in a row with 26 or more goals, and was their third in a row with exactly 42 points (goals + assists). Their 67 shots and 48 shots on goals were their second most all season behind only their last game, while their 58 groundballs were also their second most and their 15 caused turnovers were a new season-high.
It was a balanced effort as
Luke Fisher led the way in the scoring column with four goals while
Camden Bowdy matched him with four points (2 goals, 2 assists).
Lawton Corrigan recorded a hat trick with three goals while
Will Kenney,
Tommy Quinson and
Mitch Chermak each had two goals and one assist and
Reid Edelstein and
Jack Hines both had two goals.
Nate Podolsky scored his second goal in as many games while he and
Douglas Brooks both recorded their second assists of the season as well.
Sophomore
Jack Sload recorded his first goal of the season and his first career assist, freshman
Tristan Moss and sophomore
Owen O'Neill added their first career goals, and
Mac Taupier scored the first goal of his sophomore campaign.
Davis Cronin was perfect on the faceoff for the second game in a row, this time going 13-for-13 with six groundballs while
Colin MacLean was 9-for-10 with five groundballs.
Sean Bailey added five groundballs while
Nick Vance and
Cooper Sugden both had four. Lastly,
Liam Storkerson had three groundballs and two caused turnovers.
