GRANVILLE, Ohio (March 23, 2022) – After a weather delay pushed the start time back about an hour, the No. 20 Denison University men's lacrosse team came out strong to beat previously undefeated John Carroll University 11-5 on Wednesday night inside Deeds Field-Piper Stadium.

Tied 2-2 in the first quarter, Denison scored four straight goals to close out the quarter before adding two more goals in the second quarter and one goal just over two minutes into the third quarter to make it a 7-0 Big Red run to go ahead 9-2.

Ethan Tyack scored back-to-back goals in the first quarter before Will Kenney did the same in the third quarter to make it 11-3 Denison.

Camden Bowdy, however, led the Big Red with a hat trick and four total points while Gavin Pappas had one goal and two assists.

Davis Cronin and Owen O'Neill both finished with six groundballs while Cronin was also 12-for-16 on faceoffs and scored once himself only seven seconds after winning the faceoff and charging down the field to make it 6-2 Denison at the end of the first quarter.

It was also a great effort by the Denison defense, which limited John Carroll to two goals or less in each quarter, including a perfect second quarter with no goals allowed.

Denison goalkeeper Archer Darrach finished with 10 saves.

Denison is now above .500 overall on the season at 4-3 while remaining undefeated at home at 3-0. John Carroll, meanwhile, suffered its first loss of the season at 6-1.

The Big Red will now open up North Coast Athletic Conference action on the road at Wabash College on Saturday, March 26, starting at 1 p.m. in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
