No. 20 women’s tennis wins final three matches of Florida trip

LAKE NONA, Fla. (March 18, 2022) – It was an eventful last two days for the No. 20 Denison University women's tennis team as the Big Red began the day on Thursday, March 17, with a 9-0 win over Coe College at Sanlando Park before heading to the USTA National Campus to record a tough 5-4 win over Pacific University. Then on Friday, March 18, the Big Red wrapped up their Spring Break trip to Florida with a 6-3 victory over Colorado College played again at the USTA National Campus.

No. 20 Denison 9, Coe 0:
Doubles Singles
  • The Big Red were then extremely dominant in singles action as Brual rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win in the No. 2 spot.
  • Schrader won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles to improve to 5-2 on the year.
  • Bradvica earned her first win at No. 3 singles this season with a 6-0, 6-1 decision.
  • Robertson won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles to improve to 5-2 on the season and 3-1 in the No. 1 position.
  • Elizabeth Hoo won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 singles to pick up her first victory of the year.
  • Lastly, Lopez won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.
 
No. 20 Denison 5, Pacific 4:
Doubles
  • Schrader and Bradvica won 8-1 at No. 3 doubles and Brual and Lopez were victorious 8-2 at No 2 doubles to give the Big Red a 2-0 lead.
  • Schrader and Bradvica improved to 4-2 together at No. 3 doubles while Brual and Lopez also improved to 4-2 together at No. 2 doubles.
  • Unfortunately, Sydney Cianciola and Robertson came up short 8-5 at No. 1 doubles, suffering their first loss of the season together.
Singles
  • Schrader dominated 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles, and Brual won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 singles to give Denison a 4-1 lead.
  • The clinching point came from Lopez at No. 5 singles, where she was victorious 6-1, 6-2.
  • Pacific then went on to earn a win in three of the top-four singles matches, but Denison had already clinched the victory.
 
No. 20 Denison 6, Colorado College 3:
Singles
  • The two teams played singles first as Schrader won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 singles and Brual won 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2 singles.
  • Then after losses at No. 6 and No. 4 singles, Bradvica won 6-1, 7-6 at No. 3 singles.
Doubles
  • Brual and Lopez put the Big Red ahead 4-3 after winning 8-1 at No. 2 doubles.
  • Denison clinched the team victory with an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles by Robertson and Cianciola.
  • Schrader and Bradvica then finished off the doubles sweep with an 8-4 win in the three hole.
 
Next Up: Next up for Denison will be its first North Coast Athletic Conference West Division match of the season at Ohio Wesleyan University, starting at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22.
