GRANVILLE, Ohio (February 9, 2022) – The 2022 North Coast Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Championship got underway with the finals in the men's and women's 800 freestyle and the prelims and finals of the men's 3-meter dive on Wednesday night at the Trumbull Aquatics Center.
In the opening event of the night, the men's 800 freestyle relay, Denison placed second as
Patrick Daly,
Sam Myaard,
Christian Narcelles and
Kyle Verstandig touched with an NCAA Division III National "B" cut time of 6:37.42.
Kenyon College earned first place in both the men's 800 freestyle relay (6:36.01) and the women's 800 freestyle relay (7:24.59).
In the men's 3-meter dive,
Liam Simmons finished in second place with a National "B" cut mark of 480.85 points for 11 dives.
Brendan Downey was fourth with a National "B" cut mark of 445.10 points as well, and
Kristian Kowalski was sixth at 432.40 points. Kenyon's Israel Zavaleta won the 3-meter dive with 594.85 points.
Through two events on the men's side, Denison is in second place with 149 points. Kenyon leads the men's side with 163 points and is in first on the women's side with 70 points.
The Big Red will return to action tomorrow, February 10, when they compete in the 200 freestyle relay, 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 50 freestyle, 400 medley relay, and the women's 1-meter dive. Prelims will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the finals to follow at 6 p.m.
