GRANVILLE, Ohio (February 5, 2022) – Playing in what was its final home game before Senior Day, the Denison University women's basketball team lost 64-50 against Oberlin College on Saturday inside Livingston Gymnasium.

After a competitive first quarter in which Denison limited Oberlin to only 20 percent (3-15) shooting overall and a 0-for-4 mark from three, the Yeowomen outscored the Big Red by 10 points in the second quarter after shooting 52.94 percent (9-17).

With eight minutes left to play in the fourth quarter, a layup by Oberlin made it a 16-point margin at 53-37. A 3-pointer by Gabby Elliott started an 11-2 run that ended with a layup by Isa Contreras and got Denison to within seven at 55-48 with three minutes remaining.

However, the Big Red were unable to get any closer and then had to begin fouling with under a minute and a half left to try and force misses at the free throw line. Oberlin made its first six free throws under the 1:15 mark and finished the game by making seven of its last eight attempts from the line.

In all, the Yeowomen shot 19-for-23 (82.6 percent) from the free throw line in the game while the Big Red shot only 28.1 percent from the field and 65 percent (13-20) from the free throw line. Denison was also outscored 40-14 in the paint and 17-4 in points off turnovers while Oberlin finished with 13 steals on 18 Big Red turnovers.
