GRANVILLE, Ohio (February 12, 2022) – The final home game of the 2021-22 season for the Denison University women's basketball team finished with a 71-56 win for the Big Red during their Senior Day against Kenyon College.

It was Senior Day for Sophia Cheros, Isa Contreras, Camm Mack, and student manager Maya Coppola.

Contreras had a great Senior Day, totaling 12 points and adding nine rebounds and three assists. She has now appeared in 54 games in her career and has started in all 19 games she has played in so far this season. She has amassed 221 points, 147 rebounds, 36 assists and 17 steals in her career.

Cheros scored her second field goal of the season with a long two-point jumper in the final minute of the game. She has now appeared in 15 games in her career, including nine this season.

Mack sustained a season-ending injury during the second scrimmage of the season this year. She has appeared in 20 games in her career, and as a junior in 2021, she started all eight games while averaging 4.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game. She has totaled 42 points, 55 rebounds, 19 assists and 20 steals in her career.

Denison women's basketball also recognized Maya Coppola, who has served as the student manager for the Big Red for the past three years. Women's basketball is thankful for the time and work Maya has contributed to the program.

Among the non-seniors, junior Mikaila Carpenter scored a game-high 15 points, and freshman Maddie Goodman recorded her first career double-double and first career double-digit rebounding game with 12 points and 11 boards. Goodman also added a career-high six assists.

Denison improved to 8-12 overall and 6-7 in the North Coast Athletic Conference, and finished above .500 (5-4) at home on the season as well. The Big Red now hold a two-game lead in the win column over Kenyon (6-17, 4-10) for fifth place in the NCAC standings in addition to owning the tiebreaker over the Ladies via the season sweep.

Denison will wrap up its 2021-22 regular season with back-to-back road games next week, starting at No. 13 DePauw University at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, February 16, and followed by 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, at Allegheny College.
