GAMBIER, Ohio (February 11, 2022) – Playing in its final game before Senior Day, the Denison university men's basketball team earned its third win in a row after finishing with a 77-55 win on the road over Kenyon College during their White Out Game on Friday night.
The Big Red were led by
Darren Rubin with 19 points on 5-for-7 shooting from 3-point range. Rubin added seven rebounds while
Freeman Brou finished with 11 points, eight rebounds and three steals.
Freshman
Cameron Smith scored a career-high 12 points on 4-for-5 shooting, and fellow-freshman
Tommy Asleson scored his first career field goal.
Denison (9-11 overall, 8-6 North Coast Athletic Conference) led only 39-34 at the break and led by only three points at 39-36 after a jumper by Kenyon (2-20, 0-15) one minute into the second half.
The Big Red answered with nine straight points and proceeded to outscore the Lords 31-10 over the next 12-plus minutes to take a 24-point lead at 70-46 with 6:25 left to play.
Denison made 11 of its first 22 shots of the second half while limiting Kenyon to four of its first 20 shots of the period.
Denison returns home for Senior Day tomorrow, February 12, at 3 p.m. against this same Kenyon team.
