Game Recap: Baseball |

Denison falls to No. 1 WashU; Will Play Webster at 7 p.m. EDT

DECATUR, Illinois—Denison suffered an 8-1 loss to No. 1 Washington University-St. Louis on Saturday in the NCAA Regional Semifinal from Workman Family Field on the campus of Millikin University. With the loss Denison will have a rematch with Webster University at 6 p.m.  The winner advances to Sunday's Regional Championship and the loser will be eliminated from the tournament.

The Bears scored one in the first and added five in the top of the second. The key play of the game came on a line drive that was hit to left field. It was misplayed by the Big Red and the four-base error plated three. WashU added two more in the second to take an early 6-0 lead.

The Denison offense just couldn't heat up thanks to an excellent start from Bears lefty Troy Bauer who held the Big Red to three hits and one run in 7.0 IP. Denison starter Will McManaman went 6.2 innings and allowed seven runs on 11 hits but only three of the runs were earned.  Andrew Brown, Sam Maier and Caleb Struewing worked the final 3.1 innings to close out the game.

Denison's lone run came via an RBI ground out by Owen Wilson after a triple by Daniel Spencer.

Millikin will provide a live video stream of tonight's game against Webster beginning at 7 p.m. EDT (6 p.m. CDT).
