Box Score 2 GREENCASTLE, Ind. – Denison softball traveled to Greencastle, Ind. on Sunday afternoon and suffered a pair of losses to No. 9 DePauw University at DePauw Tigers Field. The Big Red fell 5-0 in game one before losing game two, 6-3.
- In game one, Denison's Lexi Knipp and DePauw's Cami Henry combined for a pair of strikeouts through two scoreless innings to begin the game, but the Tigers took 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third when Olivia Jackson scored on a wild pitch and Abby Pyburn scored on a sacrifice fly.
- DePauw added another run in the fourth and two more in the sixth off a home run from Becca St. Germain to send the Tigers to 7-0 in conference play. The Big Red dropped to 3-4 in the NCAC West.
- Junior Sam Kline finished the game 2-for-3 with a triple and a single. Knipp pitched six innings for Denison, allowing five runs on five hits with two strikeouts.
- In game two, DePauw carried a 2-0 lead through the first three innings of play until the Big Red capitalized in the top of the fourth with an RBI double from Taylor Faulkenberg and an RBI single from Knipp, to tie the game at 2-2.
- After the Tigers returned the favor with two runs in the home half of the fourth, an RBI single from Faulkenberg in the fifth trimmed Denison's deficit to one run, 4-3. DePauw added to more runs in the sixth as they closed out the series and improved to 25-2 overall and 8-0 in the NCAC. The Big Red dropped to 6-17 overall and 3-5 in conference play.
- Faulkenberg and Maggie Ballentine each recorded two hits in the second game of the day and combined for three runs and two RBI. Knipp and Caitlin Ellwanger also added a hit for the Big Red.
Denison will return to action on Wednesday, April 28 when they travel to Springfield, Ohio for an NCAC doubleheader with the Tigers of Wittenberg University. Game one will begin at 3:30 p.m. and game two will start at approximately 5:30 p.m.
