#24 Women’s tennis celebrates seniors with win over Tigers

GAMBIER, Ohio -- No. 24 Denison women's tennis picked up an 8-1 win on Sunday over DePauw University at the Denison Tennis Courts in Granville. Seniors Alex Cash, Hannah Cianciola, Devin Gramley, and Natalie Overby were celebrated pregame for Senior Day.

In doubles action, Cash and Hannah Cianciola defeated Amanda Showalter and Erin Friedrich, 8-4. Sarah Robertson and Sydney Cianciola took down Kiley Shaw and Paige Bennett, 8-3. Closing out doubles was the duo of Gramley and Monique Brual, who handed Katherine Price and Kat Wilder an 8-4 loss.
On the singles court, Sydney Cianciola defeated Showalter, 7-6 (7-1), 6-2. DePauw picked up their only win of the match when Friedrich took down Cash in a three set showdown that ended in a tiebreak 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 (12-10). Robertson gained back momentum for the Big Red with a 7-6 (7-0), 6-1 win over Bennett.
Hannah Cianciola followed with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Price. Brual picked up a win over Wilder, 6-1, 6-0. Closing out the match was Gramley, who defeated Shaw, 6-0, 6-3. The win sent Denison to 6-3 on the season as DePauw dropped to 5-8 on the season.

The Big Red will return to action on Saturday, April 24 when they face fifth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University at 12 p.m. in Granville.
