Big Red Volleyball Takes Two From Wooster

Denison opened its mini-spring season with a pair of victories over the College of Wooster from Livingston Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. Denison won the first match, 3-1, and took the second contest, 3-1 to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Game 1
  • Denison posted a 3-1 (25-17, 25-17, 19-25, 25-19) win over Wooster to open Saturday's doubleheader with the Fighting Scots.
  • Lucy Anderson (14) and Sidney Gossard (13) led Denison in kills in the opening match.
  • Three players posted double-digits in digs led by Emma Woerner (18), Maddie Kurtz (13) and Jenna Corrao (10).
  • DU hit 20 percent and posted a match-high 17 kills in the fourth set.
  • This snapped a two-game losing streak to Wooster that dated back to the 2018 season.
 
Game 2
  • Denison prevailed 3-1 (25-17, 25-12, 21-25, 25-16) in the second contest.
  • Peyton Mcelfrish led Denison with 13 kills and Lucy Anderson posted 11 kils with a .455 attack percentage.
  • McElfrish also paced DU with 21 digs followed by Jenna Corrao (20) and Maria Pavlick (18).
  • Corrao's three service aces were a game-high.
  • Kirby MacKinnon finished with 44 assists for Denison.
The BIg Red will take a 2-0 record into next Saturday's pair of matches against Ohio Wesleyan. Prior to the first contest the Big Red will bid adieu to it's senior class. The Denison Sports Network broadcast will begin at 12:45 p.m.
