CLEVELAND—Denison baseball closed out its weekend series with Case Western Reserve by splitting a doubleheader at Nobby's Ballpark on the CWRU campus. Denison took the opener, 4-0 and fell in game two, 4-1.
GAME 1
- Danny Alvarez was 1-for-2 with two RBI. He blasted a solo home run in the third inning and added a sacrifice fly in the sixth.
- Charlie Fleming struck out 12 in 7.1 innings pitched. He scattered five hits and walked only one while facing 27 batters.
- Caleb Struewing pitched the final 1.2 innings of scoreless baseball to earn his first career save.
- Ty Robinson (RBI single) and Max Lahn (RBI double) accounted for the rest of the DU scoring.
- With the win, head coach Mike Deegan reached 200 career victories. He is the program's all-time leader in wins at 200-107 (.651).
GAME 2
- Case starter Jackson Morris allowed only four hits and one earned run in 7.1 innings pitched for his first win of the season.
- Brian McAuliffe led Denison offensively, going 2-for-2 with a walk and one run scored.
- Noah Leib's RBI ground out in the fifth accounted for Denison's only run in game two.
The Big Red (3-1) return to action on Saturday, March 27 when they host the College of Wooster in a doubleheader beginning at noon. The Denison Sports Network broadcast will begin at 11:45 a.m.
