DELAWARE, Ohio – Despite another career performance from sophomore

In a game that saw nine lead changes and 48 combined points off turnovers, both sides played to a 46-46 tie following a pair of made free throws from OWU's Kasey Schipfer with 6:26 left in the game. The Bishops followed the tie with seven unanswered points over the next two minutes of play after Lauren Denison tallied five combined points and Schipfer turned a steal into a transition layup on the other end as Ohio Wesleyan took a 53-46 lead with 4:26 remaining.
With 3:09 to play, OWU's Lauren Campbell attempted to increase the Bishops' lead, but a block from Carpenter led to a rebound for
Ann Rafeedie and new life for the Big Red. On the next possession, sophomore
Natalie Hutras chipped away at the Denison deficit when she buried one of her two chances at the charity stripe. Less than a minute later, Carpenter added another free throw on the backend to make it a 53-48 game with 2:13 left to play.
Denison's hopes at shifting the momentum stayed alive on OWU's next possession when the Big Red forced the Bishops into a shot clock violation with 1:42 remaining, giving the ball back to DU. Hutras turned the Ohio Wesleyan turnover into two points on the other end as she cashed in on both of her free throws to make it a one-possession game, 53-50.
With a chance to tie the game with 41 seconds to play, sophomore
Gabby Elliott was unable to connect from the perimeter for the Big Red, resulting in a rebound for OWU's Hailey MacGregor and a two-point basket from Grace Stoller for the Bishops.
The Big Red looked to trim their deficit on the next possession, but an OWU steal halted DU's comeback as Denison suffered their second-straight loss to start the season.
