GREENCASTLE, Ind. (October 16, 2021) – The Denison University men's soccer team won 3-0 on the road at DePauw University to improve to 7-4-1 overall and 3-2 in the North Coast Athletic Conference so far during its 2021 season.
It was a quick start for Denison as
Ethan Miracle scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season on the first assist of the year by
Luke Mattessich less than five minutes in, and then a little bit over three minutes after that,
Cameron McIntosh assisted on the first goal of the season by
Harrison Netburn to make it 2-0.
Then in the 74th minute,
Henry Schwartz scored his first goal of the season on the assist by
Luca Vicinelli.
Goalkeeper
Dylan Brown finished with five saves will playing all 90 minutes for the Big Red. Brown has made at least four saves while playing all 90 minutes in each of Denison's last three matches.
The Big Red outshot the Tigers 9-2 in the first half, but then it was DePauw that outshot Denison 6-4 in the second half.
Denison entered the match with a record of 1-5-3 against DePauw dating back to 2011, but now Denison has officially ended DePauw's three-match NCAC winning streak.
"Today was a big-time performance from our group against a good DePauw team," said Head Coach
Brandon Bianco. "Our back line continues to play well, and we are starting to get more out of our restart moments. We'll enjoy this one and get ready for Tuesday."
Next up, the Big Red will remain on the road to play at Oberlin College at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19.
