WOOSTER, Ohio – The 25th ranked Denison women's tennis team earned their second-straight win of the dual season on Friday night as they posted a 9-0 sweep of the College of Wooster at the Aspen Racquet Club in Wooster.
Denison's dominance opened on the doubles court where DU's No. 1 duo of Alex Cash and Hannah Cianciola blew by Qingyue Li and Ishika Gupta, 8-2. The same score occurred in No. 2 doubles when Sarah Robertson and Sydney Cianciola defeated Shannon Sertz and Laura Haley. The Big Red entered singles play with a 3-0 lead after Madeline Hart and Devin Gramley completed the doubles sweep with an 8-0 win over Abby Kushner Benson and Kathryn Materick.
In singles action, the Big Red tallied all of their wins in straight sets, beginning with the top-flight where Cash took down Li, 6-3, 6-0. Sydney Cianciola garnered a pair of 6-2 wins over Gupta while Robertson defeated Sertz 6-1, 6-1 and Hannah Cianciola was victorious on the fourth court 6-1, 6-0 against Sarah Duran.
In No. 5 singles, Monique Brual handed a 6-2, 6-0 defeat to Haley and Izzy Hart completed the team sweep in No. 6 singles with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Materick.
Denison will return to action next Wednesday, March 4 when they travel to Delaware, Ohio for a 4:30 p.m. matchup with Ohio Wesleyan.
