Denison drops NCAC title match to Kenyon

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Denison women's tennis competed in the North Coast Athletic Conference championship match on Sunday afternoon, falling to No. 1 seeded Kenyon College, 5-0, at the Wynne Tennis Center in Indianapolis, Ind. to finish their season as the conference runner-up.

In doubles competition, the Big Red's top-flight combo of Lauren Hawley and Emma Alsup were edged by the nation's 11th-ranked duo of Diana Aboubakare and Erika Oku, 8-6. In No. 2 doubles, Kenyon's Maggie Sweeney and Grace Winslow defeated DU's Megan Hickey and Ashley Hammons, 8-3, while the same score occurred in No. 3 play with the win also going to Kenyon.

On the singles courts, two of the top players in the region, Hawley and Aboubakare, squared off in No. 1 singles action, with the win going to Aboubakare, 6-1, 7-5. The last scored match of the day was in No. 6 singles, with Annie Reiner defeating Charlotte Purnode, 6-4, 6-0.

Ranked as the No. 32 team in the country, Denison ends their season with a record of 13-8, including their first trip to the conference championship match since 2016.
