KALAMAZOO, Mich--  The Denison women's tennis team earned their first win of the season as they shutout Kalamazoo, 9-0 at the Markin Center.

In singles play, Ashley Hammons started things off with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Eloise Germic to put DU out in front, 4-0.  The match was clinched at No. 1 singles when Lauren Hawley took down Maria Franco, 6-2, 6-1. 

Denison also got singles wins from Emma Alsup (6-2, 6-2), Rochell Issa (6-0, 7-5), Charlotte Purnode (6-1, 6-4) and Megan Hickey (6-4, 3-6, 10-7).

In doubles, Denison got an 8-1 win from Olivia Underwood and Hammons out of the third flight.  At first doubles, Hawley and Alsup topped Franco and Sabrina Dass 9-8 (7-1).  The second flight of doubles also went to a tiebreaker as Hickey and Issa posted a 9-8 (7-3) win.

The Big Red will return to action on Monday, March 13 when they face Occidental in Los Angeles, Calif.
