Box Score 2 Denison closed out play at the 18th Annual Marcia French Memorial Invitational with a pair of losses to Bethany and Defiance on Saturday afternoon. The losses came on the heels of Friday night's heartbreaking pair of five-set defeats suffered by the Big Red.
DU opened against Bethany and fell 3-0 (19-25, 20-25, 18-25). Leah Reinfranck, Rachele Lock and Isabella Pivec all finished with six kills apiece to lead Denison. Kristen Brennan finished with 17 digs while Julia Miller and Kaileigh Poe tied with 11 assists each.
Bethany was led by Dylana McKenzie who finished with 11 kills. The Bison also controlled things at the net, posting 26 blocks. Sumayyah Muhammad led the way with six blocks.
Against Defiance, the Yellow Jackets posted a .231 hitting percentage to squeeze out a 3-0 (20-25, 18-25, 23-25) win over the Big Red.
Reinfranck paced Denison once again with eight kills while hitting a 29 percent. She also posted five blocks. Sarah Bradley was even more efficient, notching seven kills on just 15 total attacks.
Miller and Poe combined for 28 assists while Brennan paced the defense with 11 digs.
At the conclusion of the tournament, Reinfranck was named to the all-tournament team.
Denison (2-6) will look to bounce back on Tuesday when they travel to Ohio Northern for a 7 p.m. clash with the Polar Bears.
