In their final home match of the regular season, the 23rd ranked Denison women's tennis handed Wittenberg a 9-0 defeat to improve to 2-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference West Division. DU will close out divisional play on Saturday when they travel to Greencastle, Indiana for a matchup against DePauw.
Denison (9-7) took a 3-0 lead after doubles play thanks to wins by Lauren Hawley and Meg Chiumento at No. 1, Sarah Torrence and Megan Hickey at No. 2 and Frances Hinkamp and Eleni Coleman at No. 3.
In singles, Chiumento defeated Carli Milano, 6-3, 6-2 at first singles for her 12th win of the season and her first victory out of the first flight.
At second singles, Torrence blanked Alivia Livesay, 6-0, 6-0 and Carol Vitellas made short work of Sarah Frisch, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3.
In the fourth flight, Charlotte Purnode posted the 6-0, 6-0 win over Nora Jacobson. Two of Denison's four seniors, Coleman and Hinkamp would close things out with straight-set wins at fifth and sixth singles, setting the final at 9-0.
