Box Score 2 The Denison volleyball team finished the Mount Union Tournament with a 2-2 record after splitting a pair on Saturday in Alliance, Ohio. The Big Red won a three-set decision over Grove City (25-20, 25-19, 25-20) before dropping a four-setter to Ohio Wesleyan (16-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-19).
Against Grove City, senior Brittany Perry hit .474 with 11 kills and just two errors in 19 attempts, while freshman Olivia Buroker had a match-high 12 kills. Sophomore Leah Reinfranck registered nine kills and three aces, while Kaileigh Poe handed out 32 assists. Defensively, sophomore libero Kristin Thewes had 13 digs and senior Elena Lein posted three blocks.
In the final game of the weekend against OWU, junior Rachele Lock paced the Denison offense with 14 kills to go along with seven digs. Lein and Buroker added 10 and eight kills, respectively. Lein also had two blocks, while Thewes led DU with nine digs. Poe dished out 34 assists and served up one ace, while Reinfranck and Perry had the Big Red's other two service aces.
Denison moves to 3-2 on the year after going .500 over the weekend. The Big Red returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to Bexley, Ohio for a 7 p.m. match with the Capital Crusaders.
