Box Score Denison suffered a 3-1 (25-23, 25-15, 27-29, 30-28) loss at the hands of Ohio Athletic Conference foe, Otterbein University on Thursday night. With the loss, Denison drops to 5-6 overall, while Otterbein improves to 6-7.
The Cardinals jumped out to a 2-0 lead behind a two-point win in the opening set and a decisive 10-point win in set number two.
In the third set, DU rebounded with a 29-27 win clinched by an Otterbein service error, and a set-clinching kill by Elena Lein.
In the fourth set, with DU close to knotting the match at 2-2 by holding a 28-27 lead, the Cardinals would rattle off three-straight points to end the contest.
DU got 18 kills from Rachele Lock and 13 kills apiece from Leah Reinfranck and Brittany Perry. Lein would add 12 kills, and Emily Marguerite paced the squad with a match-high 34 digs. Denison finished with 10 blocks as a team and Lein contributed five. Jessica Borsani led the way with 32 assists and Kaileigh Poe chipped in 19.
Otterbein was led in kills by Megan Volosin with 15. Evelyn Carus finished with 23 digs and Kayla Radekin led the team in blocks with five.
Denison will travel to Marietta this weekend for a tri-match against the host, Pioneers and Thiel College.
