OT magic continues for Big Red

Box Score

Mia Day scored the game-winning goal in the 92nd minute of play, helping Denison remain unbeaten with a 2-1 win over Washington College in Baltimore, Md.  Day's goal came after a shot attempt by Katie McMahon was saved by Shorewomen goalie Stephanie Harryman and sent back out into the field of play. Elsie Humes was there to collect the rebound and find Day for the clinching score.  This marked the third-straight overtime win for Denison in 2013, thus improving their record to 3-0.

Denison got on the board first when Taylor Bacon tipped in her first goal of the season off a feed from McMahon just two minutes into the second half.  That 1-0 lead would stand until the 52nd minute when Washington College's Claire McAuliffe scored off an assist by Kate Duggan.

In the two overtime periods, both teams attempted five shots.  Harryman posted four saves in the extra sessions and DU goalie Laura Campbell finished with seven saves in the contest and one in overtime.  Defensively for the Big Red, senior Karla Dixon posted a defensive save for the second-straight contest. This marked the first-ever meeting between Denison and Washington College in field hockey.

DU will return to action on Saturday (Sept. 14) with a North Coast Athletic Conference match at Earlham College.
