Box Score 2 The Denison volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday to close out the North park Clash hosted by North Park University in Chicago, Ill. After a pair of Friday night wins over Manchester and Marian, DU returned on Saturday against host, North Park, and St. Mary's of Minnesota.
In the opener versus North Park, the Big Red picked up the win, 3-1 (25-21, 25-19, 18-25, 25-22). In what would be the tournament championship, St. Mary's would hand the Big Red a 3-0 loss (17-25, 21-25, 17-25).
In the four-set win over the Vikings, sophomore Elena Lein recorded a .345 hitting percentage after racking up 11 kills on 29 attempts with only one error. Lein also finished with five solo blocks and four block assists. Freshman Rachele Lock followed with seven kills, while sophomore Kenzie Kuhn added six finishers. Setters Jessica Borsani and Carly Newell each dished out 16 assists, while junior libero Emily Marguerite served up three aces to go along with a game-high 20 digs.
For DU, Kuhn, Lein, and Marguerite were named to the All-Tournament team. Denison is 6-3 overall this season.
