Elena Lein posted 12 kills and six blocks while Emily Marguerite turned 46 digs as Denison opened its 2013 campaign with a 3-1 (25-20, 20-25, 25-21, 25-5) victory over Albion College from Capital University.  DU would fall to Defiance, 3-1 (26-24, 25-23, 23-25, 25-23) in the nightcap.

Against Albion, Lein would be folllowed by a balanced attack as Brittany Perry, Lauren Gustafson, and Kenzie Kuhn all turned in eight kills.  Jessica Borsani led the team with 22 assists while Carly Newell contributed 18.

In a tightly contested match versus Defiance, the Big Red got 11 kills from Gustafson to lead the way.  Annemarie Fischer and Kuhn posted nine kills apiece. Kuhn led DU with nine blocks.  Sarah Blum and Marguerite each notched a pair of service aces and Marguerite once again paced the squad with 30 digs.  

Denison will close out the Capital-Otterbein Volleyball Opener on Saturday when they take on Rose-Hulman at 9:30 a.m. and Trine at 12 p.m.  Both matches will be placed at Capital University.
