Denison splits at W&J Tournament

The Denison volleyball team split matches on the opening day of the Washington & Jefferson Tournament in Washington, Pa.  The Big Red suffered its first setback of the season to Muskingum 3-1 (27-25, 20-25, 25-18, 25-17), but top the host Presidents in the nightcap 3-2 (25-13, 24-26, 19-25, 25-21, 16-14).

Against the Muskies, first-year Kenzie Kuhn logged 14 kills to pace the offense, while sophomore Elsa Manning served up four aces and setter Jessica Borsani dished out 42 assists.  Defensively, sophomore libero Emily Marguerite posted 30 digs, while Elena Lein had four solo blocks.

Against W&J, Kuhn once again dominated the net both offensively and defensively.  The rookie posted 16 kills and recorded eight blocks, including five solo.  Borsani handed out 44 assists, while Marguerite posted 27 digs.

The Big Red (6-1) closes out the Washington & Jefferson Tournament on Sunday (Sept. 9).  DU will take on Allegheny and Pitt.-Greensburg at 1 and 3 p.m., respectively.
