Box Score 2 The Denison volleyball team closed out play at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational with a 4-0 record following a pair of victories on Saturday. The Big Red knocked off Earlham 3-1 (25-9, 23-25, 25-17, 25-17) in the opener, and closed out the invitational by shutting out Wilmington 3-0 (25-8, 25-13, 25-16).
Against Earlham, first-year Brittany Perry paced the attack with a team-best 10 kills, while rookies Annemarie Fischer, Elena Lein and Kenzie Kuhn each posted nine kills. Defensively, sophomore libero Emily Marguerite logged 27 digs, while setter Jessica Borsani recorded 10 digs. At the net, Lein finished with four solo blocks and two block assists, while Kuhn had two solo rejections and five block assists.
In the nightcap, Kuhn led the offense with a game-high nine kills and two service aces. The first-year also logged five solo blocks and one block assist. Perry finished with seven kills, while Borsani had 27 assists and two aces.
Denison improves to 4-0 for the first time since 2006 when the squad opened the season with six-straight victories. DU looks to keep the momentum rolling on Wednesday (Sept. 5) when they host Capital University at 7 p.m. in Livingston Gymnasium.
