Denison posted a .500 record at the Midwest Invitational after logging wins over Luther (5-0) and Kenyon (5-1) on Saturday in Madison, Wis.
Against Luther, the Big Red took a 3-0 lead after sweeping doubles play. Senior Sarah Short and junior Alex Marcell knocked off Cami Czech and Katherine Howe, 8-2, at the first flight, while Kate Westenberger and Heather Abzug won an 8-3 decision at No. 2 doubles. Senior Courtney Steiner and sophomore Lilianna Broussalian completed the sweep with tightly contested 9-7 victory at third doubles. DU took the match with straight-set wins by Westenberg and Abzug at fourth and fifth singles, respectively. Westenberg posted a 7-5, 6-1 decision, while Abzug recorded 6-4, 6-3 scores.
Against the Ladies, Short and Marcell picked up their ninth-straight win at No. 1 doubles following a dominating 8-1 win over Amy Schlessman and Lydia Winkler. Steiner and Broussalian also notched an 8-2 victory over Samantah Betts and Emily Shapiro at the third flight. In singles play, Marcell, Broussalian and Steiner all posted straight-set wins at second, third and sixth singles. Marcell's win was her fourth in a row, while Broussalian and Steiner each won their second-straight matches.
The Big Red (7-8) returns to action on Saturday when they host nationally-ranked Carnegie Mellon University at 12 p.m.
