Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Denison completed its spring break trip with a 7-5 victory over North Central on Friday.  The Big Red dropped Friday's opener to Gustavus Adolphus, 10-5.

In the spring break finale, Denison jumped out to a 6-0 advantage through two and a half innings.  Sophomore Rachel Laughlin doubled in rookie Julie Rooney in the opening frame.  The Big Red added two more runs in the second when a single by Kait Fiore plated Gretchen Staubach and Kelly Cunningham

DU tacked on three more tallies in the third to take a six-run lead.  Junior Jess Robertson drove in the first run of the inning.  Later in the inning, Meghan Edwards and Robertson both scored on wild pitches.  The Cardinals fought back, but fell short by a pair of runs.

Cunningham went 3-for-4 with a run scored, while Fiore, Rooney, Laughlin and Hannah Price all went 2-for-4.  Fiore had a pair of RBIs and a run scored, while Price drove in and scored a run.  Laughlin had a double and knocked in a run, while Roone crossed the dish once.  Laughlin went the distance inside the circle en route to her fourth win of the year.  The sophomore gave up five runs (four earned) on nine hits with four strikeouts.

In the opener, Gustavus Adolphus broke a 3-3 tie with a seven-run third en route to the victory.  Edwards, Price and Emily Lipsitz all went 2-for-3 to pace the DU offense.  Edwards drove in three runs and scored another, Price crossed the dish twice, and Lipsitz scored once and stole a base.  Sophomore pitcher Kelsey Hager suffered the loss after allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits in 2.1 innings.

The Big Red leaves Arizona with a 6-4 record.  Denison returns to the diamond on Wednesday when they travel to Muskingum University.  First pitch is slated for 3:30 p.m.
