Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Denison rebounded from its first loss of the season with a pair of victories at the Tucson Invitational Games.  The Big Red run-ruled Nazareth 13-4 in five innings, and followed that up with a 2-1 victory over Edgewood.

Against the Golden Flyers, DU erupted for five first-inning runs, highlighted by a three-run home run by sophomore Gretchen Staubach.  Junior Jess Robertson provided the first two runs of the frame with a two-RBI single to left field.  Denison added two in the second, four in the third and two more in the fifth en route to the nine-run victory.

Sophomore Rachel Laughlin went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs, while senior Hannah Price logged two doubles, drove in three runs and scored two more.  Staubach and Robertson both finished with three RBIs, while senior Kait Fiore and rookie Julie Rooney each scored two runs.  Laughlin (3-0) picked up the win after surrendering four runs on nine hits with three strikeouts in five innings on the mound.

Against the Eagles, sophomore Kelsey Hager notched her second win of the season after giving up one run, scattering three hits and striking out six.  Fiore scored the game's first run on a delayed steal from third base in the opening frame.  Laughlin knocked in the game-winning run in the third on a base hit to right center.  Edgewood cut the deficit in half in the sixth, but Hager secured the win by retiring the side in order in the seventh.

Fiore went 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored, while Laughlin logged two hits and an RBI.  Fiore and Laughlin each recorded a stolen base.

The Big Red (5-1) returns to action on Thursday when they take on nationally-ranked Central (Iowa) at 2 p.m. MST and Marian (Wis.) at 5 p.m. MST.
