Box Score 2 Denison opened the North Coast Athletic Conference weekend in Gambier, Ohio with a dominating 3-0 (25-21, 25-9, 25-9) victory over Oberlin and closed the night with a convincing 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-12) win over Allegheny.
Senior Lauren Strowder paced the Big Red offense with 11 kills on the afternoon, while sophomore Lauren Gustafson hammered down 10 kills. Senior setter Claire Koneval dished out 26 assists in the three-set win. Defensively, senior libero Brooke Beavers logged 18 digs and served up a career-high six service aces.
Against Allegheny, Kristen Hughes led the way with 10 kills while Koneval posted 35 assists. Emily Marguerite paced the Big Red with 17 digs and Megan Early notched three blocks.
The pair of wins moved Denison's record to 7-7 overall and 2-0 in the NCAC. The Big Red will return to the court tomorrow with matches scheduled against Ohio Wesleyan at 10 a.m. and Hiram at 12 p.m. in Gambier, Ohio.
