Box Score 2 Denison dropped a pair of decisions to Kenyon (25-18, 21-25, 25-6, 18-25, 15-13) and Wittenberg (25-13, 25-12, 25-16) on day one of the North Coast Athletic Conference Weekend hosted by The College of Wooster.
Kenyon jumped out to the early lead, but the Big Red tied the match at 1-1 with a four-point win in the second set. After falling behind by a game, DU rebounded with a fourth set win. The fifth and decisive set was closely contested. However, Kenyon edged the Big Red en route to the five-set win.
Senior Lauren Strowder paced the Denison attack with 11 kills, while classmate Claire Koneval handed out 43 assists. Defensively, libero Brooke Beavers logged 17 digs, and Megan Early registered three blocks at the net.
Against the Tigers, Strowder totaled six kills, while Koneval and first-year Jessica Borsani combined for 18 assists. Senior Brittany Brannon led the DU defense with nine digs.
Denison closes out the NCAC Weekend on Sunday when they take on the host Scots and NCAC newcomer DePauw at 10 a.m. and noon, respectively.
